REAL Vanilla Extract

OK.  Here is a simple recipe for making your own real vanilla extract.  From me–a teetotaler!

Split and scrape vanilla beans and add scrapings and beans to vodka.

I use about 4-5 beans for every cup of vodka.  Leave it somewhere so you will remember to shake it a few times every day for a week or more.  Then let sit for 2-3 months in a dark place.  As you use it, they say you can just top it off with vodka and give it a shake.  If I add very much more vodka, I add another split vanilla bean or two.

This vanilla made ALL the difference in my home-made vanilla ice cream.

Don’t buy the beans in a grocery store.  I get mine on Amazon.  They are much cheaper and superior quality.
