“If it seems bad for you to serve Adonai, then choose today whom you are going to serve! Will it be the gods your ancestors served beyond the River? or the gods of the Emori, in whose land you are living? As for me and my household, we will serve Adonai.” Joshua 24:14, 15 (CJB)
God has always given people a choice. But, like the Israelites, people often SAY they are going to serve God and then proceed to serve the god of this world along with everyone else. Then when disaster or war overtake us, we cry out again to the one true God to save us. (Remember 9/11??) Just because we SAY we are going to serve God doesn’t mean we follow through. Our actions must follow our decision. Well, here is His response to those who cry out for His help when they clearly chose other gods: “Go and cry to the gods you chose; let them rescue you when you’re in trouble!” Judges 10:14 (CJB)
The most popular religion in our world today, it seems, is moral relativism. You can’t judge ANYTHING as being wrong, whether actions or belief systems. Nothing new. Many times in the Bible we see the same thing. “At that time there was no king in Isra’el; a man simply did whatever he thought was right.” Judges 17:6, 21:25 (CJB)
When we just do whatever we think is right, even though the majority may agree, unless it lines up with the Word of God, we have made a choice to serve another god–the god of this world. II Corinthians 4:4.
So CHOOSE THIS DAY WHOM YOU WILL SERVE!
