Exodus:1:20, 21 “Therefore God prospered the midwives…Indeed, because the midwives feared God, he made them founders of families.” (CJB)
Ex. 7:6 “Moshe and Aharon did exactly what Adonai ordered them to do.” (CJB)
Ex. 12:28 “Then the people of Israel went and did as Adonai had ordered Moshe and Aharon–that is what they did.” (CJB)
Ex. 12:32 “…get out of here! But bless me, too.” (CJB)
Most people want God’s blessings. Most of us don’t want to do what is required to receive God’s blessings. In Ex. 1:20, the midwives ignored the Pharaoh’s edict to kill the Hebrew baby boys because they feared God. He blessed them.
Exodus 7:6 and 12:28 tells us Moses and Aaron did exactly what God said to do. He used them as instruments to fulfill His promises. God’s people, on the night of Passover did exactly what God told them to do and He passed over them on the night all the firstborn in Egypt were killed.
Then we come to Pharaoh. He stubbornly refused to obey God’s commands. Finally, in desperation, tells the Israelites to “Get out!” (But later reneged on that.) Then, he has the audacity to ask for God’s blessing!
Do we continually ask for God’s blessings, while refusing to keep His commandments?
