Genesis 39:23 “The prison warden paid no attention to anything Yosef did, because Adonai was with him, and whatever he did, Adonai prospered.” (CJB)
Now, you would think Joseph would be languishing in prison, or at least complaining a little. Of course he wanted out, especially since he had been unjustly imprisoned, but he didn’t just lay around feeling sorry for himself. He got busy and took over the prison and made himself useful, which won him favor with the warden. How could God bless him if he just sat around and felt sorry for himself? His servant attitude and willingness to work not only made his own life better, but also those around him.
Notice that Joseph, although destined to rule Egypt as 2nd in command, didn’t start out there. He started out in Potifer’s household as a slave, and if that wasn’t bad enough, he wound up in prison for something he didn’t do.
Sometimes life just doesn’t go the way you think it should or the way you had envisioned it. Mine certainly hasn’t. Has yours? We have a choice. We can complain and wallow in our disappointment and focus on what we don’t have, or we can use the situation God has given us, or allowed in our lives to bless those around us. God help us to make the right choice even in the midst of disappointment and sometimes great injustice.
